That is why I was looking for a unicorn horn headband.
So we went to Boystown off the Belmont stop. I mean...Where else would you expect to find one? First stop was Egor's Dungeon, Chicago's premiere adult retail store.
Salesman: Can I help you find anything?
Me: Yes, actually! Do you have any unicorn horns? Or anything similar ? (I'm not sure what I meant by "similar to a unicorn horn", but...)
Salesman: A what? Unicorn...? No. We don't have that here.
Me: Great! Thought I'd check, thank you.
(I quickly exit, feeling unexpectedly shamed)
Next stop was Tabou Tabou which had moved to The Alley, the alternative shopping complex at Clark and Belmont. It was a little brighter and pinker than the last place, which was a good sign, but I was still smarting from the last experience, so I thought I'd look around before talking to anyone. There are some adorable nurse outfits, in case you are wondering. Finally, I just asked the lady behind the counter.
Me: Funny question.
Saleslady #1: I've heard all of them.
Me: Great. I'm looking for a unicorn headband type --
Saleslady #1: Yep! Be right back. (she disappears)
Saleslady #2: It's suuuper cute. It's a furry hood and it has suspenders.
Me: Would it go over a wig?
Saleslady #2: You could probably MacGuyver it so it's mostly the horn.
Saleslady #1: It's one of our last ones!
Me: Can I bring my wig in to try on with it?
Saleslady #1: Absolutely! But also try Beatnix on Halstead and Hollywood Mirror.
And with that I journeyed to the ever-colorful Hollywood Mirror.
Me: Excuse me, do you happen to have a unicorn horn headband?
Saleslady: Well...we have it for cats...
Me: Probably too small for my head?
Saleslady: Oh, definitely. Sorry.
We did go to Beatnix which is an AMAZING store, but they were completely out of unicorn horn headbands. They normally have a lot in stock and were expecting more in time for Pride weekend, so that's good to know. Also, bible earrings that open up and have the entire bible printed in them.
Happy shopping everyone! May you be more successful than I was today. Off to the internet.
